Direction-Dependent Thermoelectric Properties of a Layered Compound In2Te5 Single Crystal

We examine the anisotropic electrical and thermal transport properties in single crystals of In2Te5 belonging to monoclinic space group C12/c1 with temperature gradient applied parallel (||) perpendicular ( $$\perp $$ ) crystallographic c-axis crystals. A systematic investigation structural, electrical, suggests role layered structure this material guiding its thermoelectric behavior. The conductivity along (κ||c) was found be smaller by a factor 2 compared direction (κ $$_{\perp{c}}) over entire range. In contrast, Seebeck coefficient (S||c) higher than value $$(S_{\perp{c}}) . At room temperature, figure merit zT||c is four times larger as $$zT_{{\perp}c} Our results provide insights into how resistivity, conductivity, thermopower depends on crystalline anisotropy impact overall zT.
